It felt weird. I’m a very conscientious driver, but in the back of my mind, I was like, “fuck you all. Come at me mother fucker, I’m merging this shit. Your Miata? I wouldn’t even notice that until I washed this thing and found you there.”
I’m now very afraid of people driving pickups. I sort of want one.

I waved to thank people for letting me merge, but I felt like it made me stand out even more.

People either don’t notice my turn signals or don’t care so I end up doing this quite a bit anyway. People don’t fuck with me as much as they did when I drove a lowered EG. But then, my 2WD isn’t four and a half feet off the ground at the bed rails like today’s trucks, either, so I must not be a real man.

Haha, depends on the truck. My best friend used to have a lifted F250 diesel that was super fast/loud. I felt the same way driving it. My ranger on the other hand is so little/slow that I have to line up my merge a quarter mile in advance.

Yep! I wouldn’t want to drive something that big everyday but that, “I’m big! Outta my way!” feeling is very real. I’ve rented a few Tahoes and it’s the same thing - slap on a tie and some Joe Biden Raybans and you are instantly secret service.

Dude. I got it, and I felt bad about getting it. I was just driving around and like,”duck your Prius. Fuck your Civic. Semi? We’re cool. We’re doing the same thing. You get me.

I drove a mid 2000s Silverado before the 4Runner but I totally want a bigger truck. A Raptor is about the size I want.
Clarification edit : drove once. Not owned. But yeah the 4runner feels small compared to more modern offerings.

I fucking love it to. Got a couple of turbo diesels at work and it’s fun to spool up the turbos and kill endangered species.

I don’t necessarily get aggro in traffic when I’m in a big fer-bah-fer pickup, but if I get anywhere near a dirt road or a rocky trail my inner truck dude screams “YEEEEEEHAW” and forces me to mash the accelerator.

I get that way every time I drive my dads ‘99 Dodge Ram quad cab with the extended bed. It. Is. Fucking. Huge. It has 5.9 liters of V-8 fury and a hood that goes on for 1/2 a mile. i drove it taking the Boy Scouts to summer camp and it was awesome.

Just don’t try that in Texas. We’re used to it and people like me will play chicken with you in 90's Japanese econoboxes lol.

I’m thinking it’s more you get a little better view of your surroundings than the size of the vehicle. My truck doesn’t exactly tower over people, but it’s got pretty decent visibility. Lets you know how hard you can push a lot better than small cars. Cars I used to love driving feel like I’m driving a cave now and they terrify me.
